Who we are
A few words about us....
Cove Crest Farm / Griggs Winery is a small, family owned farm/vineyard and winery in the mountains of northeastern Shasta County, California. The picture on our home page which is also on some of our labels is an artistic rendition of our winery building.
Our name comes from our area, "The Cove", which extends from the Flat Woods to the Pit River. The Cove is rich in deep volcanic soils and abundant springs. Enjoying warm summer days and cool nights, Cove Crest at 2,400 ft. elevation is ideally located for growing exceptional produce and premium grapes. We are small, Just the two of us do all the work. Our vines are tended and harvested by hand, and our wines are made and bottled by hand as well. Our vegetables, blueberries and blackberries are picked by hand for sale at the local farmers markets.
Our first vines were planted in 1997, and we became a bonded winery in 2006. Shortly thereafter we diversified by adding the blueberry and blackberry plantations and putting in a large vegetable garden.
Our mountain location
Our vineyards are surrounded by wooded mountains, we have abundant pine and cedar trees, as well as oaks. Below is a picture of our chardonnay ripening in the sun.
